Volunteers help out at VOBOC's annual Basket Fundraiser Nvember 14 -19, 2011.
All proceeds from the sales of blank note cards, Léon the lion of courage, and VOBOC water bottles goes towards the costs associated with the baskets that VOBOC delivers to hospitilaized cancer patients December 24th.
Thank you to all of you who supported VOBOC's fundraiser to help offset the costs of our baskets that we deliver Christmas Eve to hospitalized cancer patients. It raised over $1,400.00 in our sales of our note cards, lions of courage and our water bottles. We are most grateful for your donations and purchases.
We expect to deliver 100 big beautiful baskets on Dec 24th to hospitalized patients. VOBOC tries to ensure that every young cancer patient has a basket if they have to be in hospital Christmas Eve. Your support ensures that we meet that goal.
A very special note of thanks to Montreal's CTV for last Friday’s coverage of our fundraising event. Thank you for letting the community know how we are trying to help adolescents and young adults who are undergoing cancer treatment here in Montreal. It takes a community to support a cancer patient. Thank you CTV.
We also wish to thank Flora International www.florainternationalflowers.com for the beautiful floral arrangements they donated for our free contest draws during our fundraiser last week. These are great folk who make fantastic arrangements. Thank you!
Winners of the floral draw: Ian Gordon - photo included, Roy Bradley and the winner of the large Christmas basket was Bruce Baldwin.
VOBOC's 10 Year Anniversary Celebration Gala on March 23, 2011 was an outstanding success!
Gala raises $60,000.00 with 257 people in attendance.
Honouring Courage was the theme of the evening and it was visible in several ways Wednesday March 23, 2010. Testimonials from cancer patients, caregivers, doctors, nurses all honoured the Courage that it takes to battle cancer. Testimonies highlighted how VOBOC's free services have touched the lives of patients battling cancer and how VOBOC helped ease the journey for those in palliative care.
On Christmas Eve the baskets will be delivered to Adolescents and Young Adults who are hospitalized in cancer treatment at one of the McGill Teaching hospitals: Montreal General, Royal Victoria, Montreal Neurological, or Jewish General hospital and to patients with cancer at and Lakeshore General and to those at the West Island Palliative Care Residence.
